Traditions and rituals

Blog, Traditions, RitualsPosted on April 20, 2025

Easter in Italy is a truly unique occasion, when what is probably the country’s most important and deeply rooted tradition is celebrated in villages, towns and cities alike. Pasqua (Easter) festivities consist of church masses, processions lead by singing, and gatherings like La Passione / The Passion, a centuries-old ritual enacted and staged before a live audience.

In 2025, Holy Week fell between the 13th and the 20th of April, and our community of Filignano was out in the piazza, on the streets, at mass and walking together in the dark from church to the memorial chapel. Caffè del Borgo, or the Bar as it is best known, made Pasquetta (Easter Monday) truly memorable with an all-day picnic and live traditional Molise folk music.
