Looking Twice
Tash Kahn and Cathy Rose
Artist Tash Kahn met writer Cathy Rose on a residency in Spain in 2022. Their collaboration began during a conversation in the kitchen when Tash showed Cathy some Polaroids she had taken around the property. The images were strange and slightly incongruous: an out-of-place bottle of water on a window sill, a rusted kids’ table and chair under a tree, and a goat tethered to a chain. Tash thought Cathy could work them into some exciting stories. She did, and when the residency ended and the pair went back to their respective homes in London and San Francisco, the collaboration continued – eventually becoming ‘The Polaroid Stories’.
In 2023, they travelled to Collemacchia in Italy, for a residency with The Museum of Loss and Renewal. ‘Looking Twice’ is a collection of Polaroids and stories from their time there.
